Mindful Moving is a professional moving service based in New Jersey and the Tri-state area.
Project Overview
The client needed help improving website performance, specifically targeting Total Blocking Time (TBT) and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS), to ensure a faster and smoother user experience. The primary goal was to raise the mobile performance score to at least 50 while improving desktop stability and speed.
My role
I worked on optimizing the front-end and structural elements of the website, identifying bottlenecks and applying best practices to enhance speed and visual stability. Special attention was given to the desktop version where layout shift was impacting usability.

Challenges & Solutions
- Large Cumulative Layout Shift on Desktop: Optimized the header and adjusted CSS to stabilize page elements during load.
- Slow Mobile Largest Contentful Paint (6.3s before): Implemented image compression, lazy loading, and font loading optimizations to improve render time.
- Excessive Scripts and CSS: Deferred non-critical JavaScript and minified CSS/JS to reduce TBT.
- Unoptimized Images: Converted images to next-gen formats and applied responsive image scaling.
Results Achieved
- Desktop Score: Improved to 98 with CLS reduced to 0.021 and LCP ~1.0s.
- Mobile Score: Increased to 65 (from ~40–45). Although below target, the First Contentful Paint improved to 2.9s and CLS reduced to 0.172.
- Total Blocking Time: Reduced to 0 ms on both desktop and mobile.
- Significantly improved stability and speed, with plans for further mobile optimization.
